WSET Level 1 Award in Wines- ONLINE

• You are a wine enthusiast who wish to gain a hands-on introduction into the world of wine and wants to obtain an internationally recognized wine qualification
• You are employed in the drinks and hospitality industries and have little prior knowledge of wine in general

Students must be 21 years of age by the date of the course.

There are no prerequisites to this course.

In this course, the following topics will be covered:

• The main types and styles of wine
• Common wine grapes and their characteristics
• How to store and serve wine
• The principles of food and wine pairing
• How to describe wine using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)

WSET Level 1 Award in Wines Specifications

The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines is assessed by an in person, closed-book examination that consists of 30 multiple choice questions, to be completed in 45 minutes.  A minimum mark of 70% is needed to obtain certification.

In-Person Exam Sessions- Saturday, May 30th at 11:00 am or 1:00pm. 

In-Person Exam Location: House of Wine Classroom

This is a 4-week course with course access beginning Saturday, April 25th. 

Online material is accessible by candidates for 12 months from the time of the start of the course.

Study Requirements

• Six hours of personal study time required
• Two single hour interactive conference meetings (Optional)

    WSET Level 1 Course Pricing
    $300.00 this includes all fees including $50 non-refundable registration fee, workbook, experiment study kit with Delivery (wine samples and delivery available only in the Boise, Idaho metro area), online learning modules with 12 months of access, two conference call study sessions, exam. Upon a passing exam mark, students will receive a certificate and lapel pin.

  • Refund and Cancellation Policies*
    Students who cancel within 14 days of registration and at least 14 days prior to the start of the course will receive a full refund of payment minus a $50 non-refundable registration fee.     Course transfers cannot be carried forward to a subsequent academic year. Course transfers of a confirmed booking either to another course or applicant can be made up to 14 days before the course start date on payment of a $50.00 administrative fee plus the cost of any additional study materials which may be applicable.     Examination dates are connected to the course onto which you book. Transfer of an exam to an alternative date at least 14 days prior to the original examination will incur an administration fee of $50.00. All examination transfer requests less than 14 days before the examination will incur an administration and re-sit fee of $100.     Students who have failed their previous WSET Level 1 Award in Wines exam may apply to re-sit the exam. The exam re-sit fee is $100 and students will have one year from the course start date to sit the exam.
